The fact that Nintendo’s Detective Pikachu is something that exists is either a testament to mankind’s development or a travesty that signifies our downfall. In any case, Legendary Pictures is also producing a live-action film based on the game.

Last year, it was announced that Detective Pikachu would be turned into a live-action film with Ryan Reynolds providing the voice of Pikachu. Other actors were considered for the role, including Mark Wahlberg, Hugh Jackman, and Dwayne Johnson. Sadly, Danny DeVito wasn’t in the running for the role.
The film is set to be released on May 19, 2019, so we have quite a wait until the film opens. No details about the story has been released beyond the premise that this particular Pikachu became a detective and teams up with the film’s star Justice Smith (who doesn’t appear in these photos).
The Detective Pikachu game was released world wide in March 2018. Initial reviews have been mediocre, but the title has created a lot of buzz, mainly due to the talking Pikachu character, who again is not voiced by Danny DeVito. Sigh.
