fbpx Japan's PS Plus Free Games May 2018

Another month brings another slew of free PlayStation games to Japanese PS Plus subscribers. Last month was a little slim as far as game selection went. Unfortunately, this month is no different. We should all be grateful we get anything at all, of course. Hopefully, this month’s selection appeals to some of you out there, and if not, there’s always next month.

Sherlock Holmes: The Devil’s Daughter (PS4)

Sherlock Holmes and Watson The Devil's Daughter

The titles titular detective character surely gives this away, but Sherlock Holmes: The Devil’s Daughter is a detective adventure game released in 2016. You play as Sherlock Holmes as he and Watson try to solve a series of five interconnected cases.

Investigation comes down to point-and-click style adventure gameplay, but there are some action elements thrown in for good measure. This is the eighth game in developer Frogwares’ Sherlock Holmes series. A lot of critics found fault with the interface and some of the controls, but most agreed that it was a solid mystery game.

Trackmania Turbo (PS4 / PSVR)

trackmania turbo arcade style racing game PS4

If you’re looking for an insane, arcade-style racer, then look no further than Trackmania Turbo. With over 200 hundred tracks–let me just repeat that–200 tracks it’s going to be pretty hard to get tired of it. Admittedly, it’s 200 variations of 4 different themes, but the majority of them are crazy and creative enough to keep you tied over if you’re a fan of racing games.

Car selection is a bit slim, and they’re not very well-balanced. You’ll likely find your favorite vehicle and just stick to that for the majority of the game. The online modes are fun as well, with the most impressive being the 100-player races. Let’s repeat that one as well: 100-player races!

Also Free This Month

  • Storm Lover 2nd V (PS Vita)
  • Rui wa Akira wo Yobu (PS3)
  • Slide N’ Go (PS4)

Our old nemesis Slide N’ Go returns this month. It had been absent for a bit, but everyone should have known not to get their hopes up that Sony Japan was going to give up on this game. *Shakes fist at the clouds*
