Netflix is pouring money into original content left and right, and one rather surprising focus is the anime industry. Last year, the company announced that over 30 original anime series were in production for the streaming platform.

At Anime Japan 2018, Netlfix hosted the Netflix Anime Matsuri presentation, introducing four of the upcoming programs that would be released in March and April. You can check out our full coverage on Anime Japan 2018 here.

Voice actors and actresses gathered on stage for the Anime Matsuri presentation to talk a bit about the productions they were involved in and the character’s they played. For anyone who has ever seen one of these press events take place, it’s mostly for fans of the actors and actresses involved. However, we did get some information regarding release dates and story synopsis for each of the series.

These are the titles that were on display at the Anime Matsuri stage presentation.

B: The Beginning

Hiroaki Hirata (Keith Kazuma Flick) and Yuki Kaji (Koku)

This mystery-thriller appeared on Netflix on March 2nd. It concerns a private investigator who is hot on the trail of a serial killer in a fictional city. B: The Beginning is 12 episodes long and is directed by Kazuto Nakazawa who directed the O-ren sequence in Kill Bill Vol. 1 and also designed the characters for Samurai Champloo, also on Netflix.

A.I.C.O. -Incarnation-

Haruka Shiraishi (Aiko Tachibana) and Yusuke Kobayashi (Yuya Kanzaki)

The sci-fi series A.I.C.O. -Incarnation- began streaming on March 9th. Set in the year 2037 and investigates a biological accident that occurred two years before the story begins. 12 episodes are currently available.

Sword Gai The Animation

Yuto Uemura (Gai Ogata) and Yuichiro Umehara (Seiya Ichijou)

This series was released on March 23 and consists of 12 episodes. It is a supernatural fantasy series about a young man who gains possession of a cursed sword. This is considered to be the first part of the Sword Gai storyline. As of right now, Netlfix hasn’t greenlit a second season.

In This Corner of the World

Rena Nonen (Suzu Urano)

This 2016 film appeared on Netlfix on March 15th. It follows the life of a young woman named Suzu Urano during World War II in Japan. In This Corner of the World has won a number of awards, and Netflix is the perfect platform for more people to check out this film.

Even though only these 4 programs were featured during the stage presentation, Netflix has plenty more in store for 2018.
